biography

Art Education:
Riverside City College
Fullerton State University
I was born in the Netherlands and grew up in Zwolle, a small city in the provence of Overijsel. I moved to Winnipeg, Canada and married there in 1951. In 1960 we settled in Riverside. After retiring from my job with the Riverside Health Department in 1987
I moved to Los Osos opening "the Studio Art Gallery".

I consider myself a retired local artist working mainly in etchings, collagraphs, and other printmaking media. I belong to several art associations and have won many awards among them a Merchants award in the 34th International exhibition in San Bernadino Co Museum in 1999.

YBI van EKEREN

I have been interested in art as long as I can remember. When I came to the U.S.A., it became possible for me to study art while my children were growing up.

I graduated from Riverside City College in 1968 and later obtained a B.A. from Fullerton State University in 1977.

I have worked in oil, watercolor, ceramics and sculpture, but fell in love with printmaking and consider myself mainly a printmaker.

I love the feel and characteristics of different textures on paper. I like to experiment with different kinds of paper using different techniques to find the best way to express my feeling for the subject matter. My main objective is to put this feeling in my artwork.
